My Magic Dress

The inspiration for the bottom of this dress was a Ellie & Mac - Twirl Magic Dress.

From black jersey fabric I made circle skirt. You just have to fold fabric vertically and than horizontally. Measure your waist and calculate the radius of the circle. On the fabric draw the line using radius and than another line using radius plus wanted lengh of the skirt.

In my case, my radius is 10,5cm but with seam allowance my radius is 9,5 cm. For second line I used radius 60 cm, so that my skirt is 50,5 cm long.

Than I took the colorful jersey fabric that was 50 cm long and put it on my circle skirt and cut out the part that I wanted to change.

For the upper part of the dress you can use basic bodice or just trace your favorite dress like I did. If you do not know how to draft basic bodice, do not worry, I will show you in my next posts.

For the side collar I used this tutorial: Klick. You need to measure neck hole and add 8 cm. I added only 3 cm and it is not as pretty as it should be. For the width you should use 26 cm. Seam allowance here is included.
